Public Notice - Demolition of Buildings

Lebanon Veteran Affairs Medical Center will be improving operational efficiency, and the overall appearance of the campus by demolishing Buildings 26 and 27.  This notice is intended to inform the public and interested parties.

The buildings were constructed in 1950, at which time lead based paint and materials containing asbestos were routinely utilized in the construction process.  After many years of service, the buildings have fallen into disrepair, largely in part to the significant effort and resources required to abate these materials prior to a renovation effort.  Consequently, both buildings are currently unoccupied, yet they continue to require a level maintenance to insure security, structural integrity, and the prevention of rodent/pest infestation.  These costs have done little to support the mission of caring for the Nation’s Veterans.

The Medical Center’s plan is to return the area occupied by Building 26 to green space.  The space occupied by Building 27 would accommodate a construction contractor job trailer parking site, with the remainder of space returned to green space.
