Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM)

The Mental Health Intensive Case Management Community Assistance Rehabilitation Team (MHICM-CART) is a multi-disciplinary group of professionals who utilize a client-centered, community-based, intensive case management approach. Its services are reserved for those Veterans with the most serious and persistent psychiatric illnesses.

The central goal of the program is to support and assist the chronically ill Veteran to develop the necessary skills and resources to remain in his/her community and to avoid repeated psychiatric hospitalizations. Unlike more traditional forms of treatment in which the patient goes to the clinic at set times to receive pre-determined services, MHICM-CART goes to the Veteran and delivers services "in the field" as often as needed to accomplish the Veteran's goals.
