Lebanon VA Medical Center
Hospice is a type of specialized care designed to enrich the quality of life for Veterans in the advanced stages of incurable illness. A primary goal of Hospice care is to aggressively manage pain and distressing symptoms. Hospice philosophy also emphasizes an approach that is driven by the idea that supporting a Veteran’s right to make informed decisions about their own care creates an atmosphere that nurtures continued personal growth and fulfillment. Hospice consists of an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and psychologists who are available to provide support in the areas of medical, nursing and personal care; education and counseling; and emotional, spiritual and bereavement support. Through a coordinated program of holistic-minded care, Hospice addresses the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the Veteran and family.
Hospice care is a part of every enrolled Veteran’s VA health care benefits package for those who clinically qualify. Services include Hospice in the outpatient (e.g., home) or inpatient setting. For more information, call 717-272-6621, extension 4540 or 1-800-409-8771, extension 4540.
