Vets Visit Flyers Game James van Riemsdyk, a forward for the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team, sponsored a visit for six Veterans from the Lebanon VA Medical Center to see the Flyers take on the Chicago Blackhawks on January 5, 2012. Mr. van Riemsdyk provided a meal for the Veterans inside the James van Riemsdyk MVP room before the game. He also arranged for the six Veterans to sit in box seats to watch the game. “The Veterans were treated like royalty. The entire stadium and team staff provided great customer service to the Veterans throughout the evening. The seats were phenomenal and the guys all had a great time.”- Chris Levengood, Voluntary Service Activities Assistant. The Flyers won the game with a final score of Flyers 5 and Blackhawks 4. Mr. van Riemsdyk scored 2 goals during the game including the winning shot! The Veterans felt they were good luck for the Flyers and hope to be invited back in the future to cheer them on to another victory! The Veterans would like to say thank you to Mr. van Riemsdyk for arranging the fun-filled evening and to Mr. Laperriere, who shared hockey stories with them.
