Robert "Bob" Callahan Jr. - Director Lebanon VA Medical Center

Robert Callahan Jr. Director, Lebanon VA Medical Center Robert (Bob) W. Callahan Jr. was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as Director of the Lebanon VA Medical Center effective November 11, 2007.

Mr. Callahan was born and raised on a small family farm in northeastern Maryland. He holds an Associate degree from Harford Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Maryland and graduate course work at both Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Central Michigan University. He is a graduate of VA’s Executive Career Field Training Program (ECF) and Healthcare Leadership Institute.

Mr. Callahan began his VA career in 1993 as an Occupational Safety & Health Manager at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. In 1997, Mr. Callahan became the Facility Manager at the Butler, PA, VAMC and in December 2000 he moved to the three division VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) as the Vice President for Facility Management. In October 2003, he became the Associate Medical Center Director for Site Management at VAPHS, and was responsible for day-to-day operations of 3,000 employees serving over 57,000 veterans. Mr. Callahan’s diverse experience also includes serving as an Adjutant Professor at Millersville University, a program manager within the Department of Defense, and as a researcher in the chemical industry in the late 1980s.

Nationally, Mr. Callahan served on numerous administrative taskforces and work groups. He brings with him a wealth of experience in strategic planning, tactical operations, organizational and healthcare redesign and is active in mentoring future VA leaders. Mr. Callahan is an advocate for all veterans and his mantra is “Excellence in All”. He believes as civil servants we are called to a higher purpose than ourselves, values honesty, integrity creativity and loyalty and is personally committed to serving America’s heroes. He is very interested in open communication, employee development and ways to reward and motivate employees.

 

William H. Mills - Associate Director

William H. Mills, Associate Director

William H. Mills was appointed Associate Director of the Lebanon VA Medical Center effective March 2, 2008.

Mr. Mills was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Mills holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and an M. ED from the University of Memphis.

Mr. Mills began his VA career in 1974 as a Recreation Therapist at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN. In February 1977, Mr. Mills was selected for the Human Resource Management Intern Program. Mr. Mills served as a Human Resource Management Specialist at the VA Medical Center in Newington, CT, and Lexington, KY.

In August 1981, Mr. Mills was selected as the Assistant Human Resource Officer at the VAMC in Salisbury, NC. In April 1983, Mr. Mills transferred to the VAMC, Beckley, West Virginia, as the Human Resource Officer.

In October 1986, Mr. Mills was appointed Human Resource Officer at the VA Pittsburgh – Highland Dr., and in October 1996 appointed Human Resource Officer for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System.

During his tenure as Human Resource Officer at VA Pittsburgh, Mr. Mills held a collateral assignment as the Lead Human Resource Officer for VISN 4. In addition, Mr. Mills has served extended appointments as the Interim Associate Director at both VA Pittsburgh and the VAMC at Wilmington, DE.

Mr. Mills has served on numerous administrative task forces and work groups. Mr. Mills was an original member of the Strategic Human Resources Advisory Council (SHRAC). His expertise in Human Resource issues is widely known and frequently called upon.

Mr. Mills values open communication, value added performance and a general “let’s do the right thing” approach to caring for our Veteran patients.

 

Kanan Chatterjee,M.D.,M.B.A - Chief of Staff

Kanan Chatterjee,M.D.,M.B.ADr. Kanan Chatterjee was appointed as Chief of Staff, Lebanon Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Lebanon, PA, on August 16, 2009.  Prior to his current appointment, he served as Chief of Staff at the Fayetteville, NC, VAMC since September 2008.  From January 2008 to September 2008, Dr. Chatterjee served as Interim Chief of Staff at the Fayetteville VAMC.

Dr. Chatterjee began his career with the Veterans Health Administration in Fayetteville, NC, in 2004 as Chief of the Primary Care Service Line.  In September 2007, he assumed the responsibilities as Acting Chief of Medical Service at Fayetteville.  He has served as the Chair and member of various committees at Fayetteville VAMC and within VISN 6.

Dr. Chatterjee completed his MD degree from Calcutta National Medical College, Calcutta, India in 1976.  He completed his residency in Family Medicine from University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN in 1988.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine.  Dr. Chatterjee completed his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2001 from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis, MN.  He became a Certified Physician Executive in 2006.  Prior to joining the Veterans Health Administration, Dr. Chatterjee served as an Assistant Medical Director, Primary Care of Health Partners, a not for profit HMO in Minneapolis, MN. 

 

Margaret G. Wilson, RN - Associate Director for Patient Care Services

Margaret G. Wilson, RN - Associate Director for Patient Care ServicesMs. Wilson brings to this position more than 30 years of comprehensive senior management experience in a large health care system.  She began her professional career as a Navy Nurse Corps Officer.  Ms. Wilson’s initial assignment was Naval Hospital Portsmouth, Virginia, and then progressed through various assignments and duty stations.  Her administrative experiences have included Nurse Manager, Family Practice Clinics, Quantico Marine Corps Base; Department Head, Perioperative Services at the Naval Hospital, Charleston, SC; Department Head at Naval Weapons Station Clinic in Goose Creek, SC, Director and Ancillary Services at Naval Ambulatory Care Clinic in Newport, RI.  Ms. Wilson’s last position on active duty was the first Executive Officer, Naval Health Care New England, Newport, RI.  She retired in 2005 after more the 29 years of service at the rank of Captain.  She began her VA career in 2008 where her most recent position was the Associate Chief Nursing Service for Acute Care at Lebanon Veterans Affairs(VA) Medical Center.

Ms. Wilson graduated from Lancaster General School of Nursing, Lancaster, PA, then went on to George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, for her BS in Nursing and Graduated with Distinction.  She completed her education by attaining her Masters degree in Nursing Administration at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC.
